Various dimensions - Solid pine wood, cotton gauze, Indian Ink
–
Lignum – from the latin lignum : wood, woody material, secondary plant tissue produced by the cambium, consisting mainly of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin.
–
This piece consists of various sculptural elements made of solid pine. Pieces of wood are assembled to form a single unit, which is then split in two to reveal the wood fibre. As with the entire Lignum collection, a layer of cotton gauze is applied to the surface and then coated with India ink. The surface catches the light, revealing the wood fibre.
